Romance is blooming Disney style across this week's airwaves. The Food Network airs a double dose of Disney Weddings by showcasing matrimony mouse-style on Disney’s Fairy Tale Weddings and a featured Disney Wedding profile on the brand new Fantasy Weddings. E! shows what a celebrity couple in love does at Disneyland Paris on an episode of Katie & Peter. The Hallmark channel airs both the original The Love Bug and the 1997 re-make. If that wasn't enough The Disney Channel and Toon Disney bring you a slew of Disney movies you love.
As the new Finding Nemo Submarine Voyage is being readied for its June 11 premiere at Disneyland, the Nemo Dream Mobile will be coming out of the water and onto the road beginning May 4 for a spring-summer tour of the West. This road-tripping submarine-on-wheels will bring some of the magic of Disneyland Resort and its new summer attraction to cities in the western United States and Canada. Designed to resemble one of the yellow submarines in the Disneyland fleet, the Nemo Dream Mobile will appear in a variety of settings including landmarks, festivals, schools, aquariums, museums, parks, boys & girls clubs, sporting events and parades.
Euro Disney SCA, the owner and operator of the eponymous theme park outside Paris, said Friday that its fiscal first-half loss narrowed after the company boosted sales. Revenue was largely boosted by greater theme park attendance and hotel occupancy. Theme park attendance rose by 600,000 people to 6.1 million, while average spending per hotel room gained 5.1 percent.
The Tony Award-winning Disney musical, The Lion King, will open in Paris this fall. Le Roi Lion, as it will be called in French, will open at Theatre Mogador, Paris, Oct. 4. The Elton John-Tim Rice musical will be performed in French. Lyrics and dialogue will be adapted by Stephane Laporte, who earned a Moliere nomination (the French equivalent of the Tony Award) for his work on the French adaptation of Fiddler on the Roof two seasons ago.
The City Council voted 3-2 late Tuesday night for a zoning change that would permit construction of condominiums inside a 2.2-square-mile area that was set aside more than a dozen years ago as a resort district. The vote came despite a Disneyland lawsuit and a possible election fight. Supporters of the City Council vote argue affordable housing is desperately needed for workers in the city's massive tourism industry. Opponents argue it would be a bad precedent to allow non-tourist uses in a district that brings in about $70 million in hotel bed taxes each year.
The Disneyland Resort hosts Disney's California Food and Wine Weekends 2007, April 27 through May 20. The four extended weekends (Thursdays-Sundays) will present an abundant bill of fare for everyone from fine wine connoisseurs and skilled epicures to lovers of good food and neophytes wanting to experience and learn more about world-renowned flavors of California cuisine.

To round out the air waves ABC Family shows two Disney-related syndicated sitcoms, while ToonDisney and the Hallmark Channel bring you your weekly dose of Disney movies.
Disney has internally announced that a 2nd Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique Location is planned to open at the Walt Disney World resort in September 2007. The new location will replace the current King's Gallery store inside Cinderella Castle at the Magic Kingdom park. The new Cinderella Castle location of the Boutique is scheduled to start accepting appointments April 29, 2007 for September 10, 2007 and beyond.
Startup MVNO Disney Mobile plans to add to its family-friendly services in the coming months and continues to scout for new retail locations where mothers shop, said George Grobar, Disney Mobile’s senior VP/GM. In the summer, Disney will offer a location scout feature that lets handsets display nearby points of interest. In August or later, Disney will launch a photo-sharing application that enables one-click uploads of pictures taken by a Disney camera phone to a Disney photo-sharing site. Later in the year or early next, Disney will offer an online family calendar that parents will change via PC and will include automatic pushed alerts to phones. Around the same time, the company will launch a Web site from which users can download graphics-rich games and other content to a PC for side-loading to a Disney phone.
Walt Disney Parks and Resorts has selected the Patina Restaurant Group to be the new operating participant for the restaurant at the Italy Pavilion at Epcot. The Patina Restaurant Group was one of the original operating participants at the Downtown Disney District at the Disneyland Resort in Anaheim, starting in 2001. The Patina Restaurant Group is tentativley set to operate the exsiting location in an interim form beginning September 1, 2007 with a new restaurant concept scheduled to open Fall 2008.
From June 11 through August 12 a special “Sounds Like Summer” Concert Series will be offered at Epcot. The concerts will be held daily at the America Gardens Theatre in World Showcase. The Sounds Like Summer series will pay tribute to Billy Joel, Chicago, The Eagles, Elton John, Bon Jovi and more. Show times are; 5:15pm, 6:45pm & 8:00pm. The special concerts are included with park admission.
Disney Global Book Group - together with Random House Children's Books - will launch a major school-based initiative this month in support of the Disney Fairies book publishing program, which launched in 2005 with the release of Fairy Dust and the Quest for the Egg by Newbery Honor winner Gail Carson Levine. Beginning April 23rd, 50 million milk cartons featuring 4 different Disney Fairies - Tinker Bell, Beck, Lily, and Vidia - will be distributed in 50,000 schools throughout the United States
The trains that fueled the dream for Walt Disney and his empire are being fed a steady diet of cleaner-burning, more environmentally friendly biodiesel. The magic ingredient: soybean oil. Since January, the four operable trains that run along the Disneyland Railroad have been injected with the orangey-yellow liquid (resembling apple juice), with workers slowly weaning the steam locomotives off of ultra low sulfur diesel.
Disney Channel Games 2007 will be held April 24-27 at The Ballpark in Disney's Wide World of Sports Complex at Walt Disney World in Lake Buena Vista, Fla. The Games will benefit Make-A-Wish Foundation, Starlight Starbright Children's Foundation, UNICEF and Boys & Girls Club Clubs of America. In addition to the Games, Disney Channel will host a red carpet kick-off party and a live concert featuring some of Disney Channel's hottest music talent including Corbin Bleu, Hannah Montana, The Cheetah Girls, Jonas Brothers and Miley Cyrus. The concert is open to the public and admission is free.
Pirate Land, featuring themed entertainment and interactive treasure hunts, will run May 4-June 30 in Hong Kong, coinciding with the May 24 release of the Disney Pictures movie Pirates of the Caribbean 3: At World's End. Hong Kong Disneyland, which opened in 2005, is the only Disneyland style park that does not have a Pirates of the Caribbean ride.
Disney's international TV distribution arm Buena Vista International Television-Asia Pacific (BVITV-AP) has concluded a multi-year video-on-demand (VoD) movie agreement with ViDeOnline Communications. This agreement will make available a range of current and library features from Walt Disney Pictures, Touchstone Pictures and Miramax Films for rent on-demand via ViDeOnline's O8Media internet platform, which launches this month in Hong Kong.
The first European production of the new Disney musical Tarzan officially opens in Holland at the Circustheatre near Amsterdam April 15. The production is a collaboration between Disney Theatricals and Stage Entertainment. Tarzan continues to play Broadway's Richard Rodgers Theatre.
As part of a national string of events called "Party for the Planet" organized by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums, Disney's Animal Kingdom will set up conservation-themed stations to help celebrate Earth Day 2007. Animal Kingdom's Party for the Planet will run from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. April 20th with some activities being repeated on Earth Day itself.
A unique look at Disneyland Paris and a showcase of Disney Desserts top off this week's air wave offerings. E!'s new reality show "Katie & Peter" features a trip to Disneyland Paris giving a look at the European Theme Park through a unique set of eyes. The Food Channel airs "Food Network Challenge: Disney Dream Desserts" where six teams of student pastry chefs face off in the Happiest Place on Earth. The Disney Channel showcases the recent box office blockbuster Holes, while Toon Disney brings contemporary classics like Mulan and The Hunchback of Notre Dame.
Walt Disney World Animal Programs recently welcomed two healthy baby sable antelopes to Disney's Animal Kingdom. The first, a female calf, was born on Monday, March 12, weighing 39 pounds, and the second female calf was born on Wednesday, March 14, weighing 41 pounds. The second calf born is a second-generation Disney's Animal Kingdom calf - her mother was born at the park in 1999.
Disneyland, the host for all three Pirates premieres, is selling tickets to the public in hopes of raising more than $3 million for the Make-A-Wish Foundation. Twelve hundred tickets will be available, starting today, at piratespremiere.com."This year, we get to do a huge amount of good for a lot of kids," says Lylle Breier, the company's senior VP of special events. The studio is making a $1 million-plus donation to the foundation; 50 Make-A-Wish kids and their families will be welcomed at no charge.
The American Bicycle Association (ABA) has signed a multi-year agreement with Disney Sports Attractions to host National bicycle motocross (BMX) race events. The events will be held at Disney's Wide World of Sports complex in Lake Buena Vista, Florida. The first event, the Fall Nationals will be held October 25-28, 2007 and is just the first of several events planned for the Disney Sports complex. The ABA has structured the Disney events as family adventures, allowing BMX racers and their families to enjoy the Walt Disney World Resort and race an ABA National event.
A re-imagined Spaceship Earth presented by Siemens will combine the magic of the iconic attraction's time-travel adventure into the past with a new finale which provides guests the opportunity to imagine their futures. Enhancements to the time-travel attraction will encompass changes to each of the ride scenes. As guests disembark the time travel experience, they are invited to visit "Project Tomorrow: Inventing the World of Tomorrow," where interactive exhibits bring to life the ideas and technologies Siemens is developing to help make the world a better place for the future.
The ensemble has been announced for the new Disney musical The Little Mermaid, which will make its world premiere at The Denver Center for the Performing Arts' Ellie Caulkins Opera House July 26 with an official opening Aug. 23. As previously announced, Sierra Boggess will head the cast in the title role with Sean Palmer as Prince Eric, Norm Lewis as King Triton, Tituss Burgess as Sebastian, Eddie Korbich as Scuttle, Jonathan Freeman as Grimsby, Derrick Baskin as Jetsam, Tyler Maynard as Flotsam, Cody Hanford and J.J. Singleton as Flounder and Sherie Rene Scott as Ursula.
The Walt Disney Co., which generates about $1 billion in annual revenue from the sale of Pooh products, informed a federal magistrate last month that it would not participate in settlement talks with the family that owns the licensing rights to the characters. "We suggested to the magistrate that having a settlement conference at this time would not be meaningful," said attorney Daniel Petrocelli, who is representing Disney in the dispute.
Disney has not yet decided the location to build a second theme park in China, said Wing T. Chao, vice-chairman of Asia Pacific Development at Walt Disney Parks and Resorts, on Sunday. "We are sure to build a second park in China in the long run, but we are now reviewing the market and yet to work out the location and specific construction plans," he said.

The Travel Channel finds Disney World so nice they're profiling it thrice with "Undiscovered Walt Disney World", "Walt Disney World: Behind the Scenes" and "Disney's Animal Kingdom". The History Channel finishes out the week's quartet with Modern Marvels: Walt Disney World. Toon Disney brings some contemporary favorites like The Three Musketeers and Stitch: The Movie, while the Hallmark Channel showcases a number of Disney Classics like Bed Knobs and Broomsticks and Flight of the Navigator.
Disney's Hollywood Hotel won the Best Themed Hotel in China at the 2007 China Hotel Industry Summit Meeting and Award Ceremony today, became the highlight of the hotel industry. Disney's Hollywood Hotel which has been opened since September, 2005, is a part of the overall planning of the first Disney theme park in China - Hong Kong Disneyland. Designed in Hollywood style, it carries on the Disney history and culture that were created for 80 years, fusing with the features of the golden age of movies.
The Phuong Nam Brand-name Joint Stock Company has introduced products bearing two Disney brand-names, Disney Corner and Disney Princess in HCM City. Disney Corner is a brand name of office stationary and Disney Princess is a brand name of clothes and products for girls. The deal will launch six Disney Corner shops and two Disney Princess shops in HCM City in mid-April.
An estimated 112 million people traveled to Disney theme parks worldwide last year, setting a record, according to a new amusement industry survey. The report showed that Disney's Magic Kingdom was the most visited theme park in the nation with an estimated 16.6 million guests. Disneyland in California was the second most visited park in the survey followed by Epcot, Disney-MGM and Animal Kingdom.
A six-foot-one inch, 150 pound, female giraffe was born March 26, 2007 at Disney's Animal Kingdom theme park. The new baby girl, named Rori, and her mother Nikki, are both doing fine and will be on the Disney savannah with the rest of the herd in the next few weeks.
The Oriental Land Co. has announced that the number of visitors to its two theme parks in the year through the end of March rose 4.2 percent from a year earlier to a record 25,816,000 people. The previous record was 25,473,000 people registered in fiscal 2003, when Disneyland commemorated its 20th anniversary. Special promotins at both parks and the new Tower of Terror were cited as reasons for the attendance increase.
Walt Disney Home Entertainment continues the popular Walt Disney Treasures series with three new 2-Disc DVD sets featuring rarely seen footage presented with amazing color and sound. The seventh installment of Walt Disney Treasures will be available December 11, 2007 in a limited supply just in time for the holidays. Predating even Mickey Mouse, the legendary and rarely-seen "Oswald The Lucky Rabbit" comes out of the vault for the first time ever on DVD. "Chronological Donald, Volume 3" features the the short-tempered but hilarious Donald Duck in rarely seen solo shorts dating 1947 through 1950. "Disneyland: Secrets, Stories and Magic" is a comprehensive look at the "Happiest Place on Earth."
More than 50 years after Creature From the Black Lagoon became one of the first movies shown in three dimensions, Walt Disney Co. on Friday released Meet the Robinsons, kicking off its plan to make four 3-D films annually. Meet the Robinsons will be shown in 3-D on more than 700 screens worldwide, the biggest 3-D release to date, Disney says. (Locally, eight theaters are showing it in 3-D.). Since 2005, Disney has shown a version of Tim Burton's The Nightmare Before Christmas each Halloween season with added 3-D effects. The movie, first released in 1993, took in $3.3 million in the U.S. during the Oct. 20-22, 2006, weekend, and will be on 700 screens this year.

The History Channel profiles Walt Disney World on "Modern Marvels" while the Travel Channel honors the Grand Californian resort on "Great Hotels".
