The Walt Disney World Resort is piloting Disney's eTicket, a new means of print at home ticket fulfillment for Guests who purchase tickets online via disneyworld.com. This new fulfillment option will give Guests the opportunity to print their tickets on their home printers and head directly to the theme park turnstiles without waiting in any will-call lines. During this pilot phase, the Disney's eTicket fulfillment option will only be available for Disney's Pirate & Princess Party events on March 2, 5 & 8, 2007.
The Walt Disney Company is using its stable of imaginary princesses as inspiration for a new line of wedding gowns. Disney and bridal designer Kirstie Kelly have developed a line of ethereal gowns that pay homage to Cinderella, Jasmine, Snow White, Ariel and Sleeping Beauty. "They will be high-fashion and very modern," said Paulette Cleghorn, president of Designer Loft Productions, a New York public-relations firm representing Kelly. "We are modernizing the princess concept. There is a difference between a girl who is inspired by Snow White and one who wants to dress like Snow White."
T.V. Specials, Sport Shows and Movies fill this week's airwaves. The Travel Channel airs "Disneyland Resort: Behind the Scenes" giving views a behind the Magic peak at the Park that Walt built. March 2 and 3 ESPN airs several broadcasts live from the Walt Disney World resort as part of the "ESPN the Weekend" event. The Disney Channels airs such new favorites as Piglet's Big Movie and The Emperor’s New Groove.
The Downtown Disney Resort Area Hotels a consortium of seven hotels in Lake Buena Vista, Fla., have millions of new reasons to visit in 2007, as all of the properties have completed or are in the process of completing major renovations. When finished, the properties' combined renovations will total more than $100 million in upgrades, rangaing from new restaurants and additional meeting space to flat panel televisions and spa-quality amenities in guest rooms.
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers will be back at Disney's Wide World of Sports this summer, according to a statement released by Disney World. The Bucs announced Thursday that they have signed a contract to return to Disney for their 2007 training camp and to stay at the Celebration Hotel.
President and CEO Bob Iger announced today, the Walt Disney Company plans to expand its successful cruise business by adding two new ocean liners. Scheduled to launch in 2011 and 2012, the ships will more than double the passenger capacity for Disney Cruise Line to meet the sustained demand for Disney's family cruise vacations. Specific design plans and itineraries for the yet-unnamed ships are still in development and will be unveiled at a later date.
Virgin Media and Disney's Buena Vista International Television (BVITV) have announced a deal, that will provide content for Virgin's TV-on-demand service in the UK. The deal includes hit U.S. shows including Grey's Anatomy, Criminal Minds and Alias. The deal also includes high definition versions of all the shows except Extreme Makeover UK.
Couples can complete a wedding gift registry for elements to comprise an all-inclusive honeymoon to Walt Disney World Resort in Florida, Disney Cruise Line and Disney Vacation Club. Gifts available on the registry range from dining, theme park tickets and resort accommodations to a personal safari, an after-hours visit to Magic Kingdom or a Disney Vacation Club membership. A collectible Cinderella bride doll, donning a princess-inspired wedding dress by designer Paloma Blanca, will be available exclusively for purchase at the World of Disney store in New York, Walt Disney World in Florida, and Disneyland Resort in California.
ESPN and Walt Disney World Resort will offer sports fans of all ages the opportunity to see and hear ESPN personalities and world-famous athletes March 2-4 during the fourth annual ESPN The Weekend, a festival-style event at Disney-MGM Studios. Through the month of March, the Atlanta Braves are at Disney's Wide World of Sports Complex for their 10th Major League Baseball (MLB) Spring Training session, including a 15-game home schedule against 10 major league opponents. Disney's Wide World of Sports Complex is celebrating its 10th anniversary in March 2007. Opened on March 28, 1997, the 220-acre complex hosts more than 180 sports events each year, including Tampa Bay Buccaneers training camp, the NBA Pre-Draft Camp, AAU National Championships and the Pop Warner Super Bowl.
A few Travel Channel shows this week, as well as the Family Matters trip to WDW. And, the Hallmark Channel has some great oldies on Saturday. The Travel Channel airs "Disney's Animal Kingdom" and "Walt Disney World Resort: Behind the Scenes". ABC Family shows the special 2 part Family Matters - " We're Going to Disney World". The Hallmark Channel tops off the week with the '70s classics The Apple Dumpling Gang and the Apple Dumpling Gang Rides Again.
Euro Disney SCA, Europe's largest theme-park operator, and Pierre & Vacances SA, the continent's biggest vacation-apartment company, are teaming up to build an eco-tourism vacation village near Paris. The companies' chief executive officers signed an accord with the government Tuesday to build about 5,000 houses and apartments on a 1,300-acre site. The project will be located about 22 miles east of the French capital and less than four miles from Euro Disney's two theme parks. The Walt Disney Co. owns 39.8 percent of Euro Disney.
Refuting months of speculation that Walt Disney Feature Animation would be retooled and rebranded exclusively for 2D, Ed Catmull, president of Pixar and WDFA, revealed plans for merely a partial return to 2D last week at the 2007 Investor Conference. Meanwhile, it was formally announced that TOY STORY 3 is being made at Pixar with Lee Unkrich at the helm and a script by Michael Arndt. Plans are to release in 2009. Tom Hanks and Tim Allen are signed as the voices of Woody and Buzz Lightyear.
Disney's Touchstone TV is undergoing an extreme makeover---at least in terms of its name. The Walt Disney Co. will rename the TV production unit ABC Television Studio. TV syndication unit Buena Vista TV and foreign sales unit Buena Vista International TV reportedly also will undergo name changes, all part of a company-wide effort to better manage the Disney image by focusing on its three major brands: Disney, ABC and ESPN.
Walt Disney Pictures' all new CG-animated feature "Tinker Bell" will arrive worldwide in Fall 2008 from Disney's Buena Vista Worldwide Home Entertainment. "Tinker Bell," produced by DisneyToon Studios, will be the first time audiences hear Tinker Bell speak, as the movie brings to life the amazing world of Disney Fairies, The Walt Disney Company's newest franchise, in all-new CG-animation with Brittany Murphy as the voice of the spunky and sassy fairy. In the tradition of its many animated classics, Disney will bring to life an enchanting tale of Pixie Hollow and Tink's new fairy friends voiced by some of Hollywood's most talented actors.
Disney has donated the largest private collection of historical African artwork to the Smithsonian's National Museum of African Art. The Disney-Tishman collecton, as it's being called, was purchased by Disney from New York real estate mogul Paul Tishman in 1984, for a permanent display at Epcot which never came to be.

Buena Vista Games is undergoing a name change, as parent company Disney today announced that the publisher would henceforth be known as Disney Interactive Studios. In addition to releasing games under the Disney brand, the company will make use of the Disney-owned ABC and Touchstone brands to sell its games.
Jay Rasulo has revealed that the Walt Disney Company is exploring smaller, deeply immersive parks, expanding its water park offerings at Walt Disney World resort and adding ships to the Disney Cruise Line. Rasulo cautioned that, "These ideas are blue sky concepts that will not be executed unless the new businesses could achieve a high return on invested capital".
Walt Disney Parks and Resorts is considering putting Disney-themed hotels and nightlife districts into downtown areas of major cities that don't currently have Disney properties. Disney is not yet making any commitments to "urban Disney hotels" or stand-alone Disney entertainment districts, Disney Parks and Resorts Chairman Jay Rasulo told investors.
The Magical Beginnings program will return for 2007. Differing from the 2006 offering, the program will be offered Early September through Late October. Walt Disney Co. Wednesday reported solid gains in sales and profits for the latest quarter, driven by healthy sales of "Pirates of the Caribbean" and "Cars" DVDs as well as strong results at its ESPN and ABC networks. Disney reported sales climbed 10 percent to $9.7 billion for its fiscal first quarter ended Dec. 30, ahead of the $9.5 billion that analysts were expecting, according to estimates from Thomson First Call. The Burbank, Calif.-based media giant also reported net profit more than doubled to $1.7 billion, or 79 cents a share.
Downloads of Walt Disney films on the iTunes platform have risen sharply to more than 1.3m after only three months on sale, putting pressure on other Hollywood studios to join Apple's digital service. Disney began selling its new movies on iTunes in October. But other studios have resisted its lead, partly because of fears that they will upset retailers such as Wal-Mart and Target, which are responsible for most DVD sales in the US.
Walt Disney Studios is joining forces with Robert Zemeckis and two of his longtime partners to create a studio that will produce three-dimensional, motion-captured animated films. Capture technology records actors' movements and feeds them into a computer to create the 3D animation. Zemeckis used the technology in his recent films "The Polar Express" and "Monster House." Joining Zemeckis in the venture will be producing partners Jack Rapke and Steve Starkey. The trio are currently working on an animated version of "Beowulf," set to be released by Columbia Pictures in the fall.

Additionally, Jostens will become an Official Sponsor of events at Disney's Wide World of Sports Complex in Lake Buena Vista.
