It's A Small World - The Movie

It’s A Small World, a staple of the Disney theme parks. Disney has hired Jon Turteltaub to direct a feature based on the venerable family film ride with theJon Turteltaub catchy tune. Jared Stern pitched Small World and will write the script. He, Turteltaub and The Lego Movie‘s Dan Lin will be the producers. This one will take awhile to come together but it is envisioned as a potential franchise for the studio.

Happy 50th Anniversary To 'It's A Small World'

On this day in 1964, Walt Disney's salute to children around the world opened at the New York World's Fair. Now open in the Fantasyland area at all Disney Parks worldwide, the popular boat ride celebrates international unity with it's brightly costumed dolls and infectious theme song.

Big Thunder Mountain Railroad Refurbishment at Disneyland Park



It’s been one month since the “wildest ride in the wilderness” reopened after an extended refurbishment here at Disneyland park. Since then, our guests have been telling us how impressed they are with the improved track and new effects at Big Thunder Mountain Railroad. Today we’ve got a special look at these improvements as they took shape over the last year.

Tokyo Disney Resort Claims 600 Millionth Visitor


Tokyo Disneyland and Tokyo DisneySea – recorded their 600 millionth visitor last weekend, according to park officials. The lucky visitor, Yumi Sakai, and her family walked through the park gates on Saturday morning – 30 years and 363 days since the first park, Tokyo Disneyland, opened on April 15, 1983. Sakai was congratulated on the park stage by Mickey Mouse and other Disney characters, and presented with a three-year special pass.

Maleficent Sneak Peek At Disney Parks

Beginning tomorrow, April 18, guests at Disney Parks on both coasts will be able to enjoy an exclusive sneak peek at Walt Disney Studios’ “Maleficent,” which opens in theaters May 30. This special extended sneak peek will play daily in RealD 3D at Disney’s Hollywood Studios in the ABC Sound Studio and at Disney California Adventure park.

Beautifully Disney gets Curiouser & Curiouser

Curiouser & Curiouser, the latest collection from Beautifully Disney, takes a cue from the Caterpillar, Cheshire Cat, and Alice herself, with colors ranging from light, neutral tones to richly pigmented and shimmery shades. This new collection will debut May 3 at Disneyland and Walt Disney World Resorts! Those of you at the Disneyland Resort are in for a special treat. There will be a special signing on May 3 with Jeff Granito, the designer behind the Beautifully Disney artwork at WonderGround Gallery in the Downtown Disney District, from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m.

First Look: Seven Dwarfs Mine Train Animatronics



Tom Staggs, Chairman of Walt Disney Parks and Resorts, spoke at the Disney Social Media Moms Celebration in Anaheim, Calif. During the presentation he unveiled a video that offered the first look at some of the amazing new characters who will be part of the Seven Dwarfs Mine Train in New Fantasyland at Magic Kingdom Park. These are some of the most advanced Audio-Animatronics figures Walt Disney Imagineering has ever created.

Positive Changes Coming to FastPass+ Program

Per an announcement via the Disney Parks Blog this morning, plans are in motion to enhance the FP+ experience at Walt Disney World. Currently guests can reserve up to 3 fastpasses in a single park per day. But in the future, Disney says guests will be able to secure more once the initial 3 are used, and they will be available if guests wish to park hop. This is positive news in the ever evolving program.

Oswald the Lucky Rabbit Makes His Debut At Disney Parks

Walt Disney's first animated star, Oswald the Lucky Rabbit, has found his way back to the Disney family and is now greeting guests at Tokyo DisneySea. Oswald, playing the role of a farmer greeting friends at a produce stand, can be found in the Cape Cod section of American Waterfront.

Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin Go Blue For Autism

On April 2, the Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin will join other iconic buildings around the world by lighting up blue to bring awareness for autism and to commemorate World Autism Day. In addition, Todd English's Blue Zoo, located at the Dolphin, has created a specialty blue cocktail, with proceeds from the drink going to a local Orlando school for autism.

Parking Fees Increase at Walt Disney World

As of today, parking fees for autos, taxis, motorcycles and limos are $17, camper, trailer or RV, $18, and bus or tractor trailer, $21. Parking remains complimentary for Disney resort guests and most annual passholders, as per their benefits. Valet parking is now $20.

'Night of Joy' Tickets On Sale Tomorrow

Tickets go on sale tomorrow for Disney's 'Night of Joy', a hard ticket event held at the Magic Kingdom highlighting the top names in Christian music. This year's event will be held September 5-6, and will feature such top selling Christian acts such as Casting Crowns, MercyMe, Mandisa and Israel and New Breed. 'Frozen' Becomes Highest Grossing Animated Film Ever

With the release of 'Frozen' this weekend in it's final overseas market of Japan, it has now become the highest grossing animated film ever. It still has it's work cut out for it in the United States though, remaining behind 'Shrek 2', 'The Lion King' and 'Toy Story 3' in total box office take. 'Frozen' was released on Blu-Ray and DVD on March 18.

'Disney Movie Moments' Program Announced For Children's Hospitals Nationwide

Disney Studios has announced 'Disney Movie Moments', a program designed to bring current Disney theatrical releases to children's hospitals to allow viewing for patients who can't attend a theater. 'Muppets Most Wanted' will be the first movie available via the secure streaming application.

'Newsies' Celebrates Second Anniversary on Broadway

Originally slated for only 101 performances when it opened in 2012, Newsies today celebrates two years on Broadway, with now nearly 900 performances.  While breaking Nederlander Theater attendance records, Newsies picked up eight Tony Awards nominations and wins for Score and Choreography in the 2011-2012 Broadway season.

Walt Disney Family Museum To Present Marc Davis Exihibition

The Walt Disney Family Museum at San Francisco's Presidio will be hosting an exhibition honoring one of Walt's Nine Old Men. 'Leading Ladies and Femme Fatales: The Art of Marc Davis' will be on display April 30-November 3, 2014. An animator and Imagineer (named a Disney Legend in 1989), Davis is probably best known for creating Tinker Bell, Maleficent and Cruella de Vil.

Star Wars Weekends Character Meals Announced

It's shaping up to be an epic event at Disney's Hollywood Studios this spring. Disney has just announced that booking begins today for Star Wars character themed meals during the annual Star Wars Weekends at Walt Disney World. Dine with Darth and friends in the mornings at Sci-Fi Diner, and then hang with Jedi Mickey and friends over dinner at Hollywood & Vine.

Disney Acquires Maker Studios

The Walt Disney Company has announced that it's agreed to purchase YouTube's Maker Studios for $500 million. Maker Studios has 55,000 channels, 380 million subscribers and 5.5 billion views per month, making it the leading network of online video content on YouTube. With the purchase, Disney hopes to continue bringing it's consumers content on the platforms they prefer.

Kouzzina To Close At The End Of September

Five years after replacing Spoodle's at Disney's Boardwalk, Cat Cora's Kouzzina will cease operations on September 30, 2014. Disney says that a new restaurant will take it's place, although the new concept and opening date was not announced. Reservations will continue to be accepted at Kouzzina until closing day.
